Steve Jackson Games has produced “tongue in cheek” Illuminati card games since July of 1982.

Steve Jackson and artist Dave Martin were inspired to create the game, loosely based upon the 1975 Illuminatus! Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson – as well as any other conspiracy theories they could find.

In 1995, Steve Jackson also released a collectible trading card game called: Illuminati: New World Order. The weird thing is that in this set from 1995 you get an “Oil Spill” card, a “Pentagon” card -- depicting an attack on the Pentagon, and most disturbing, the “Terrorist Nuke” card – depicting a strike on the Twin Towers in New York.

Of course, oil spills and attacks on key targets in America would not be hard to think up in advance, but given the nature of the game … it is kinda creepy.

Ostara, (from the Old High German, pictured above) also known (in Old English) as Eastre or Eostre (pictured below) is the Germanic Goddess of the dawn and spring. Her name was borrowed for the Christian holiday “Easter,” and therefore we will also give thanks to her today on Mystery Island.

A Mystery Island Christmas Card

This year we decided to go with an interactive Christmas card where our friends and family can time-travel back to their favorite childhood Christmas memories.

My Christmas kid memories are from the 1960s and 1970s, therefore, I borrowed some treasures from the Mystery Island Museum to share.

The earliest toy I remember playing with is Gumby:

Gumby is pretty much the prototype for all of the “action figures” to come. A strange being made of rubber (to simulate his clay self as shown on TV) articulated with wires. Nice and simple. Add an orange horse named Pokey and you’re all set to turn on the imagination machine.

However, the first real “action figure,” the first to actually carry the name of action figure came out when I was one: (1964) G.I. Joe! And by the 1970s—Joe had fuzzy hair, a beard, and Kung Fu Grip!

In 1967—Mattel got into the wire action figure concept and released a super cool line up of astronauts in the Major Matt Mason series of toys. Especially cool was his green-headed Martian buddy: Callisto.

The space program was very popular, leading to the whole walkin’ on the moon bit, so Colorforms jumped on board the outer space kick with its own wire/rubber/bendy toys, the wildest, most unique, and asthetically pleasing aliens ever, THE OUTER SPACE MEN:

Once I was old enough to read I went straight for comics and never quit. My favorite comic book from childhood was the original Justice League of America, starring: Aquaman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter, Superman, Wonder Woman and other heroes they recruited along the way.

My father found a bookstore in Hollywood that had a secret area full of used comics for 25 cents each, comics from the 12 cent to the then current 20 cent era, comics highly sought after now. He would bundle up a stack and wrap ‘em up. Good stuff.

And of course, no Christmas of the 1960s would be complete without an original Red Line Hot-Wheel from 1967:

Well, these are just a few items that shaped (and twisted) my personality. What did Santa (or Satan as its spelled in some countries) bring you?

Of course the Parade is the first crazy ritual of any good American Thanksgiving, and therefore, keep checking back here for our live coverage by Secret Society operative "Alcoholman."

I'm still not sure why John Stamos gets work in New York. Wasn't it bad enough when he pretended to be a Californian, wore a mullet, and had the gayest band on television? Well, ladies beware, I'm pretty sure Johnny's performance (and imitation of Dick Van Dyke) of "Put on a Happy Face" officially makes him "gay."

Yay!

Okay, unless you missed the fact that the donkey in Shrek was a black man, just tune in folks for the worst rendition of "I'm a Believer" I have ever heard sung by a furry.

Oh! I forgot to comment on the Hair musical singers ... Apparently their message is that white people were even more challenged in terms of dressing during the hippy era. Have they so soon forgotten Michelle Phillips? Okay, "Papa" John was a pig, but she was hot!

Thank you Big Bird ... for reminding me ... I'm over 40 years old.

Well, so far the coolest thing in the parade has been Cyndi Lauper in a pink castle. But hey, Cyndi, ya think you could sung a better song? You only have millions of viewers watching. Bust out a lil' rock & roll, damn.

The girls on the blog made me miss my Spongebob photo op ...

Endorsed by the Roman Catholic church, until inconvenient to do so, they wore white tunics bearing red crosses into battle, Christian soldiers marching onto war, but secretly knew where Jesus slept.

They managed their money wisely, powerfully, and well enough to have the government take it all away. Even the stupid King [Phillip] owed the Templars cash, certainly bad luck for them, should have broken his legs first or won that goddamned Holy War, but can your heart truly be divine for the killing when you know the motivations are lies, lies, lies?

Maybe.

I mean, the Crusades are still in action, right? Killing Arabs is so vogue, always has been. Christianity forcing the crucifix of horror against all other faiths as if the non-Christians were the vampires and not they. But hell, the Muslims have their own lies to worry about.

More importantly, the Templars knew we had abandoned Thor, and therefore, we were vulnerable and deserving of whatever undead horrors lay ahead. What could be done? Bend your knees for the bearded demon on the astrological cross?

Secretly they prayed to Baphomet for wisdom as the perverted King touched the knee of the perverted Pope. “Kill them,” they whispered into each other’s mouths. “Our pawns have failed us. Let’s take it all. Strip them naked. Tie them to spits and roast them alive over public fires. They will confess. Dirty. Heretic. Homosexuality. Heathenism. Everything we really stand for. Yes, we’ll fuck them good and tight.”

But didn’t they deserve it – for working for Evil in the first place? Didn’t they deserve it for turning their backs on Odin and spilling Scandinavian blood for King and country, religion, land, money, power, and secrets …

Yes, they knew where Jesus slept, and on the 13th Friday of October 1307 King Phillip ordered the arrest of all Templar Knights and the exquisite torturing began.

Unlucky, sure. Is this then where the dread of Friday the 13th comes from? Should we feel empathy for the fallen Order of "poor" Knights?

Maybe … not.

The real crime, the real rub of bad luck was born of spiritual slavery. When Norse and Germanic tribes “converted” (as in governmentally-forced) to Christianity, out of guilt and shame, Frigga, the goddess of love and fertility, Queen of the Heavens, was banished to a mountaintop and labeled a witch, as she could never double-cross her own pantheon, could never accept the liar’s cross.

She collected around herself a coven of eleven girls and one devil, to form a Witch’s Sabbath in order to lovingly combat the ills of Christianity on every Friday. Therefore, F-13 was chosen, symbolically to slay the Knights, but it’s not Frigga’s fault the Christians keep stealing themes; it’s what they do.

So don’t worry yourself about ladders or black cats, and definitely don’t cry for the ghost Templars -- or long dead Christians fed to lions, for that matter. It’s Frigga and her witches you’ve got to lose sleep about, because they’re coming back, and the good Goddess has had a lot of time to get pissed off.

The cauldron on Mystery Island is bubbling, the Satan is rising … the girls are gathering, and Frigga, we call your name.

Seaman Hamlin USN 1980 to 1984

Here's a funny photo of Bradley Mason Hamlin on the bridge of the USS Mobile LKA-115 circa 1984. We were underway for the Philippines when Seaman Recruit Blake Rutledge illegally took this photo – shot from the port lookout position.

The photo is a funny admixture of duty and rebellion. Obviously, as my wife has already noted, I look “unkempt.” Yet, you have to realize we worked a duty roster of 4 hours on, 4 hours off –- while out to sea. This meant that at no time did you get more than 3 or 3 and ½ hours sleep.

As goofy as I look, I was a “master helmsmen,” thereby available to roll out of my rack at any hour to take the helm if needed for any reason; weather, difficult passage, or just a nervous recruit giving the helm too much rudder.

Therefore, when taking such an important position, one would think you’d be dressed properly for the occasion. However, my role as a boatswain’s mate wasn’t all about the exciting life of an “assault boat coxswain” or a “master helmsmen.” We worked the decks and dangerous line-handling crews, chipped paint and busted rust and greased wire rope – all in the midst of trying to maintain at least one clean uniform in our sea locker. Good luck.

The utility hat I’m wearing is supposed to have an adjustable piece on the back. It’s broken and missing. Most obvious of errors is my un-tucked shirt – right on the bridge! Yes, they must have had some small measure of faith in me to put up with that madness, but even I cannot justify that 70’s-era comb sticking out of the back pocket of my dungarees.

Well, at least I look like I’ve recently shaved, often not the case. In addition, my hair seems reasonably butchered by the ship’s barber, a nervous-fingered fellow named Minot.

Yet, the best part of viewing this time-machine photo is that I feel thankful looking back, happy to have experienced military service – despite how disagreeable it sometimes felt. I was 17 to 20 in my time of service, just a kid. A rebel without any known causes, other than maybe not liking to get bossed around, but I did learn in the Navy. I learned a good deal about growing up – even if much of that growth would take place outside of service. It, the military life, helped prepare me for the obstacles I would later face.

It is not an easy thing to do to serve your country, and you don’t even have to like it when you do it, but even if you don’t know it – at the time – you’re a part of something larger than yourself. And in the summer of 1984 that kid with the comb in his back pocket helped take the Mobile where it needed to go, not on a job, but on an adventure.

May the adventure continue.

In 1996 I read a novel called Push by poet and novelist Sapphire. Along with books such as The Coldest Winter Ever by Sista Souljah, I was opened up to a world of black ghetto life and for the first time began to truly examine modern racism as a form of long term oppression. My passion for this subject waned some as I settled into married life and focused on the needs of my children and the future of my own family. As I have completed my BA degree in Women's Studies I am sometimes tainted by the narrow minded feminism that exists attempting to pigeon hole sex and race relations/problems into categories only caused by white men. At some point we have to look at our own cultural regions and examine the reality of what is really holding us back.

Class structure and education are at the base of potential change. Subjugation will continue unless revolution occurs. Revolution cannot take place without a major shift in intellectual attitude toward people inside and outside of our own natural spheres. Examining these attitudes is the first step.

It’s been a while since a new movie or book has been released that has inspired me to remember this basic concept. Based on the reviews and trailer of the new Lee Daniels film, Precious, I look forward to seeing if it truly lives up to my high expectations.

Pop culture books are obviously targeted at very specific demographics, and this new autobiography from Maureen McCormick definitely has an audience.

Whether Maureen likes it or not, or whether she can ultimately every really accept it, Marcia Brady was someone whom many of us grew up with, or certainly felt like we did, and there will be--most likely at least until the kids of the 70s die off--a continued fascination with all things "Marcia."

So, finally, we get an inside look at what it was like within the world of Maureen, and therefore, Marcia. You see, that’s truly her horror story: one cannot exist without the other, but hey, many people certainly have far worse curses to live with.

The fun thing about this book is that Maureen really doesn’t hold back. She knew people wanted the dirt and she let it fly, and really, that must have been hugely cathartic for this woman.

Although, I have to say, one of the most appealing things about Here’s the Story is the setting. Having grown up in Los Angeles in the 60s and 70s—it gave me an extra aspect of nostalgia reading about her Southern California life during that time.

But to cut to the chase, if you want to hear about cocaine parties with Harold Robbins and Sammy Davis, Jr.—it’s in there—including all the good “Brady” gossip.

I really enjoyed this book. I honestly did, a nice and easy read with a page-turner quality of wanting to know what crazy thing Maureen did next.

So, thanks, McCormick, you’re still adding a “sunshine day” to Mystery Island.

I had to force myself to sit through this, totally crying and wishing for a magic wand to stop the madness. Who are these people that can beat animals? They are not people at all. What the fuck are those helpless elephants even doing to possibly provoke such treatment? Poor Tonka, I wish I could save her.

Just the fact that there are people in world willing to participate in animal slavery diminishes my hope for my children's future. I am so grateful for PETA and all the work they do, willing to take great risks and invest huge amounts of time and money exposing animal cruelty.

Plan 9 From Outer Space is our Sunday matinee feature on Mystery Island, created by the ultra-creative Edward D. Wood, Jr. for a small but uniquely privileged audience of 1959. Plan 9 may have only found a very limited release and still exists under the idiotic cliché of “worst movie ever made” but it’s actually an entertaining, funny movie with not only a whole lot of charm, but legitimate historical value in being a feature film role for TV’s Vampira [Maila Numri], as well as [and most importantly] Bella Lugosi’s final film.

Plan 9 From Outer Space is a movie made without any pretension whatsoever, and that, in any era, is mighty refreshing to see.

"Gamera," a giant monster (turtle) competitor to Godzilla had the pleasure of Wes Farrell write the Gamera theme for the American version of Gamera the Invincible. Wes Farrell is of course revered on Mystery Island for also writing the "Come On, Get Happy" theme for The Partridge Family.

Farrah's an Angel

No other celebrity defined the wild and wonderful decade of the 1970s more succinctly than Farrah Fawcett.

In 1976 every girl wanted to be her (or at least have her hair) and every guy wanted to be with her (or at least have cool feathery hair that a girl like Farrah could admire).

Her hair was so popular, that a girl in my brother’s junior high school actually had acid thrown in her face—just because her hair looked too much like Farrah’s and a female gang member was jealous. Crazy, but true.

Farrah was one of the rare ones that created controversy just as easy as making hearts beat. Think of what Charlie’s Angels would have been like without her to kick-off the series, and how it was after she left. Viewers continued to watch, almost like a reality TV show——just to see if lightning could strike twice. Who would be the next girl of our disco-era dreams?

But truly, her defining moment presented itself in the form of the classic 70’s pinup poster, the poster of all posters, and still hand’s down—the ultimate pop culture poster of all time—owned by Alcoholman and many other young men (and ladies, no doubt).

Mystery Island Pop Culture News:

60's pop icon "Billy" of Dino, Desi, & Billy and touring Beach Boy, Billy Hinsche, hung out with the Mystery Island tribe last night, and when he wasn't busy inquiring about Hourglass--we got some great stories out of him before stopping by the local grocer to pick up Sacramento survival supplies where Billy was quite taken with the bakery section. Unfortunately those blueberry muffins were covered in sugar crystals. He settled on the carrot cake, sans frosting. Good choice, Billy.

Back at his hideout, Billy whipped out his shiny guitar and played through his practice runs on "Kitty Doyle," "Sail On Sailor," and "Kokomo" for Good Morning Sacramento.

Great guitar work on Sailor, Billy! and Kitty could not be more heartfelt.

Billy is a super sweet guy, Mr. Las Vegas for sure. We enjoyed his company very much. Thank you for time traveling with us (even without Hourglass), Mr. Hinsche. You are welcome on Mystery Island anytime.

I suppose I shouldn’t have read the news this morning. My son graduated from preschool today and on the way it felt like I was driving to a funeral.

To say David Carradine was influential on “my” generation or an “iconic” figure of the 70s, simply won’t do. Carradine might have argued that Tarantino took a gamble on getting him back into major motion pictures, because he was a great actor, an actor Tarantino remembered, but it’s more than that. Tarantino and I are the same age. I know what he saw in Carradine.

Before the Kung Fu TV show (1972 to 1975) I had no real idea or connection to Oriental culture that wasn't driven by some cliché or stereotype. I hadn’t really thought much about China or Chinese people. David Carradine’s portrayal of Kwai Chang Caine changed all that. In essence, a TV show became more relevant, spiritually, than the local Lutheran Christian church. I actually remember having philosophical debates with my brother, fueled by his frustrations of my mind straying from the mainstream holy rollers—all because of the evocative alternative presented on a 70’s western called Kung Fu.

We almost got a chance to work with Carradine on Mystery Island in 2005 while developing the Tough Company audio compilation of Charles Bukowski poems. We had Michael Madsen signed off first and he in turn got David interested in the project, and David in turn—not only gave us permission to use his home studio in Malibu—but also recruited Ozzy Osbourne and Snoop Dogg to read Bukowski poems. How cool would that have been?

Sadly, at the last minute, Linda Bukowski pulled out, leaving us with the Tough Company book project fully authorized but no longer wanting to pursue further creative projects concerning her husband’s work. So be it.

Yet, David Carradine, despite a somewhat renewed fame with the Kill Bill franchise still sought uniquely creative projects, one of which led him to Bangkok, Thailand. Why he chose to take his life, if he did indeed do so, remains a mystery for now, but the actor, the man, and the inspirational spirit of David Carradine will always be remembered on Mystery Island.

Now, time to listen to a little Koko Taylor...

Over the years and under the rainbow--people have often asked me two questions: 1) Why do you always wear sunglasses? and 2) Why is your best buddy in the workplace [at a variety of different jobs] always a black person?

Well, not so surprisingly, the answer to both questions lies in a recessive gene on chromosome 16. The change in the MC1R protein causes sensitivity to ultraviolet light. Very true in my case—and you thought I wore those Ray Bans cuz they look so damn cool.

Yeah, and since the recessive gene on chromosome 16 also creates red hair, well, it’s a no-brainer why I hangout with the soul brothers at work. They too know what it’s like to be an outcast from the mainstream society of white (non-red-haired) devils.

Red-haired prejudice is very real indeed. I grew up in Los Angeles and for a good portion of that time I lived on the northeast end of L.A. in a place called Highland Park. Highland Park is where you will traditionally find the colorful and spirited groups of young lads known as: The Avenues, HLP, White Fence, Cypress Park, Los Diablos and many others. No, these are not punk rock groups …

The cholos/vatos in Highland Park well outnumber the white boys and girls (and the blacks are an even greater minority) but a white boy with red hair … well, that just seemed to trip their triggers more than anything else.

Sometimes just walking home from Burbank Junior High School was like surviving an obstacle course. They would see me on the street and yell: “Rojo!” They would throw rocks, sticks, sometimes snow-cones … or cut off my path and make me fight one of their smaller members before I could pass.

“Right now, ese! Right now! Let’s fight, fuckin rojo!”

While these spirited actions of my Mexican peers did help develop greater survival skills and a fair usage of street Spanish—I often wondered what it would be like to not be singled out …

When I was seventeen I joined the United States Navy. Now there’s a gang you can join with lots of weapons and uniforms and everything you need. However, when I got to boot camp …

“Red, motherfucker, give me 50!”

To my surprise, it was a huge black man, dogging me. I had not had much experience with the black man yet, but I was surprised that he didn’t see me as a kindred soul, a red-haired outcast from white society.

“Red, motherfucker, give me 50!”

Wasn’t long though before my best pal in boot camp was a sorry black sonofabitch named Oliver. Oliver was an outcast from his own people because he didn’t speak Black-English. They call that Ebonics now, whatever the fuck that means.

Gee, before I start crying in my coffee I better get to the positive side of this article.

09. Jesus Christ aka Jesus of Nazareth aka Ben Jeshua: A Roman solider gave a written report of Jesus being a redhead. Some of the most famous paintings of Jesus depict him as a red-haired man. Therefore, verily, I say unto you, red hair is divine.

08. Lucille Ball: Unlike Norma Jean aka Marilyn Monroe—who converted from red to blonde—Lucy converted from brown to red. She also was responsible for getting Star Trek on television. A+ Lucy, A+!

07. George Jetson: I always admired George’s haircut, sharp man, sharp! He was a cool daddio, too. If you’ve ever seen the Jet Screamer episode of The Jetsons you know what I mean. George wails on those drums.

Richie Cunningham: Richie, (no I’m not listing the bald-headed director Ron Howard but Richie himself) was in a way a modern version of Archie Andrews, the red-headed young man portrayed as the “A” typical American boy. Sure, he wasn’t the coolest guy on the show. That of course would be Matsumoto "Arnold" Takahashi, played by Pat Morita. But Richie was a cool kid in his own right. He made out with many cute chicks at Inspiration Point. Not too shabby.

05. Archie Andrews: Archie came on the scene in 1941. This was a time when America actually saw the red-headed freckled face kid as an archetype of American boyhood. All American boy, Archie Andrews, is so hep and full of pep—he’s been jockin two hot ladies—Betty & Veronica for over 60 years.

04. Gillian Anderson: Dana Scully from The X-Files. There’s a nasty rumor out there that she’s not an original redhead, but we do take coverts, therefore, you did us proud, baby. You did us proud. I’m sorry your new movie sucked. Call me.

Mary Jane Watson: Mary Jane, created by Stan Lee and John Romita, Sr.—came into Peter Parker’s aka Spider-Man’s life with the classic line: “Face it, tiger, you just hit the jackpot!” This is the moment in the Amazing Spider-Man when you go ahead and stop wishing Steve Ditko would come back, because you know Spidey and friends could not possibly be in the hands of a better artist. Romita’s portrayal of Mary Jane is as good as it gets in terms of comic-book art—and what an awesome redhead!

02. Tina Louise aka Ginger Grant: Possibly my very first retrocrush … Tina as Ginger Grant singing, “I just wanna make love to you, poop-poop, a-doo …” Ay, carumba! Tina proved Marilyn was wrong to betray our race.

01. Ann Margaret: It just doesn’t get any hotter than Ann Margaret singing and dancing in Viva, Las Vegas! She is truly the greatest redhead of all time. Etta James vs. Beyonce Knowles

My favorite piece of humorous music news this week (which we can all use after the death of Lux Interior) arrived in the form of Etta James telling Beyonce Knowles she needed an “ass whoopin’.”

Beyonce stars in what appears to be a highly fictitious account of Etta James’s life in the film (with the fake record company name) Cadillac Records.

Of course we at The Sun Will Explode all know Etta recorded for Modern Records, Chess Records (and its subsidiary Argo Records, later known as Cadet Records), Crown Records, Island Records, Private Music, and RCA Records.

Anyway, Beyonce sang Etta James’s signature song “At Last” at President Obama’s inauguration party, and apparently, Etta was not pleased.

“I can’t stand Beyonce,” she told a crowd at a recent performance. “You know your president, the one with the big ears? He ain’t my president—had that woman singing for him at his inauguration. She’s going to get her ass whooped! She had no business up there, singing up there on a big ol’ president day, gonna be singing my song that I’ve been singing forever.”

Hell yeah, Etta, baby, tell it like it is. Not only did she call out Beyonce on her phony balony bullshit, but she let the world know she isn’t conned by Obama either.
Right on, Etta, right on, baby.

And just for the record, Rolling Stone and their “Aretha Franklin” number one singer list can kiss my ass. Etta James was and is a far superior singer to Aretha and deserves the utmost respect, which she obviously felt she did not receive from Beyonce Knowles.

Best be writing an apology letter, Beyonce, best get off your pretentious ass and show some love.

Captain America & The Falcon: "When it Counts"

This month, as we mourn Poison Ivy's love loss of psycho-punk legend, Lux Interior, we will explore the aspects of "True Love" as Valentine's Day approaches.

The above comic book panel is excerpted from Captain America & The Falcon No. 137 (words by Stan Lee, art by Gene Colon, early 1970s). It struck me as a uniquely concrete example of how I feel about real love.

The big love.

You can have romanticized "love" for someone in one of the many different forms it takes; in and out of falling in love, crushes, puppy love, relationship love, friendly love, mistake sex for love, whatever, but when it comes down to it—for those who have found their ultimate companion, or one might even go as far to say “soul mate”—there is only, and one only time—that it really “counts.”

So, the question is, who do you love?

Me? Alcoholman loves Lucy Hell, all the way, big time dynamite, and my adventures with her will always be the time that counts.

Lux Interior: King of Psychobilly

1946 – 2009

Every once in a while when someone dies my heart immediately sinks with an admixture of sadness and selfishness. The sadness comes from the loss of living at the same time in the same reality with someone you love or admire, the selfishness from wanting them still around.

Lux Interior was at the top of our contact list for Mystery Island interviews, and I personally will always regret we didn’t get a chance to chat with one of punk’s absolute greats. Although, Lucy and I did see The Cramps live in Sacramento, early 1995.

We often talk of top “six-packs” on Mystery Island, The Cramps ranking in the permanent top six-pack of punk, and you can put that in your hippy pipe and smoke it all the way to Hell and back.

Lux and his crazy beautiful wife, Poison Ivy (whom he met here in Sacramento [1972]) are unique gems that Alcoholman and Lucy Hell can directly identify with. They did it their way from the get-go and sexed it up with a blowtorch every minute of the journey. They are the true spirit of real rock & roll.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Ivy during this time of mourning.

Lux, wherever you are … burn, baby, burn. We’ll all see you soon enough—when the sun explodes.

Batman: Brave & the Bold

We originally brought attention to this great cartoon via our temporary "news" blog, so this will the first shout-out for Batman: Brave & the Bold on The Sun Will Explode--simply because this cartoon is the pure excellence.

We love cartoons on Mystery Island and so far, Batman: Brave & the Bold is shaping up as one of the all-time greatest animated series. Trust me, I do not say that lightly.

Batman has gained superhero "super star" status over the years with some of the good and not-so-good interpretations of the character, but that's what a truly great character is all about. You can see the concept from many different angles, because the story is rich and layered with history.

An example of misinterpretation or simply poorly conceived vision concerning Batman would be the recent Gothum Knights animated collection of stories. That DVD is garbage from start to finish.

Not so with Batman: Brave & the Bold.

The title Brave & the Bold comes from a silver age/bronze age [60's & 70's] comic book series where Batman would team-up with a different hero each issue. A great idea for a Batman cartoon show that works so well for kids and adults. The style of the show combines old school technique of pure fun and adventure with many of the updated features, attitudes, and ideas that have been added to Bat mythology over several decades.

But best of all ... they finally got Aquaman right.

Not since the 1967 Filmation Aquaman series have we seen the King of the 7 Seas portrayed with such love and respect. No doubt, the fat cats finally read Bradley Mason Hamlin's "Aquaman Argument" published by our pals at Retrocrush.
